Antagonistic activity of a novel antibiotic against Mycobacterium tuberculosis

The antibiotic produced by a newly isolated Bacillus subtilis has potent anti-tubercular activity against sixteen strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, most of which belong to MDR strains. MICs for the sixteen strains were evaluated. A series of spectrum analysis and element analysis determined that the antibiotic’s molecular formula was C27H46O2.
