Aims and scope

International Journal of Plant Breeding and Genetics ISSN 5756-2148 is a peer-reviewed, open access scientific journal that publishes original research, critical reviews and short communications on all branches of plant breeding and genetics. The journal aims to promote scientific and technical co-operation in the field of plant breeding in order to foster further development. The journal welcome articles on all areas of plant sciences related to plant breeding and genetics.

The journal particularly welcomes multi-disciplinary approaches that incorporate both a technical and a socio-economic focus. Technical aspects can cover developments in technologies of potential or demonstrated relevance to the analysis of variation and diversity at the phenotypic and genotypic levels; the development of rational germplasm collection, evaluation and conservation strategies; and the impact of crop genetic modification and biotechnology on plant genetic resources. Non-technical aspects can include ethical, legal, commercial and social issues of relevance, in particular relating to farmers’ rights, intellectual property and ethnobotany.

The journal will bring together scientists and researchers in all fields related to plant breeding. Manuscripts with the visions for meeting the great challenges of plant breeding in coming decades, are most welcome. Also, papers on the development of new tools and the rapid technological development of plant genomics, bioinformatics and phenomics, to name just a few, will add a new dimension to the journal.

Aims

  • To provide a forum for the presentation of the problems and challenges which plant breeders faces today and in the future.
  • To promote exchange of scientific studies and research information on genetics and breeding of plants by presenting new findings and achievements.
  • To provide a forum for describing the application of novel genomic technologies, as well as their integration with established techniques, towards the understanding of the genetic variation captured in both in situ and ex situ collections of crop and non-crop plants; and for the airing of wider issues relevant to plant germplasm conservation and utilisation.

Thematic scope

The journal publishes original papers, review articles and short communications covering all areas of plant breeding, including plant genomics, plant genetics, plant physiology, plant pathology, plant development, plant genetics, plant biotechnology etc.

The journal publishes full-length original manuscripts, review articles and short communications by nationally and internationally recognized scientists, covering all areas of plant breeding, plant genetics, cytology, quantitative genetics, genomics, molecular genetics, biotechnology, genetic resources, plant genetics, plant genomics, plant biotechnology, cytology, molecular plant breeding, plant physiology, plant pathology and plant development.
